6 Steps to Avoid the Flu
With everyone still talking about the swine flu, I thought it would be a good time to talk about how to avoid it.  Instead of following the "experts" like sheep, may I suggest that you think for yourself.  Infection?  Your only defense is your immune system, which is run by your nerve system.  My suggestions?
 
1. Get adjusted regularly!  In my book that means once a week throughout your life.  If you are already under chiropractic care then make sure you follow your wellness schedule.  Even a few extra, just to make sure, would not hurt.  Why?  Again, your defense is your immune system run by your nerve system.  If you have interference, vertebral subluxation, (most of the time there is no pain), your immune system will be at a total disadvantage fighting what seems to be a novel virus.  Vertebral subluxation is corrected by a Chiropractic adjustment.  There is no substitute.  IF YOU ARE NOT YET UNDER CHIROPRACTIC CARE, call me now.
 
2.  Eat Well.  Avoid junk food.  Avoid excess sugar or artificial sweeteners like Splenda or aspartame.  These things all shut down your immune system.
 
3.  Take supplements of Vitamin C and Vitamin D.  Also get some sun each day.  The sun activates vitamin D.
 
4. Get plenty of rest.  Be sure to be in bed by 10 PM each night.  We all get 2 hours of REM sleep from 10-midnight.  We only get one more hour of REM between midnight and the morning.  The REM stage of sleep is where the healing happens.
 
5. Have fun.  Relax.  Keep a good mental attitude.  Maybe try meditating.
 
6.  Exercise regularly.  That means daily.
 
If the swine flu does become pandemic, do more of steps 1-6.  Please do not wait for something to happen to you.  Be proactive with your health.  When pain or illness surface, usually the problem has been present for a long time before symptoms ever show up on the scene.  Please do not fall into the group that is waiting around for the government or a drug company to save you.
